Contemporary Japanese Design
Contemporary Japanese Design Project (CJD-P) started with the desire to produce compelling creations at the global level by integrating innovation and Japanese tradition.
The project team comprises 25 unique and highly-skilled manufacturers and craftspeople from all over Japan as well as project advisors, distributors, and producers for a diverse range of expertise and professional networks including Germany and France, as well as six talented designers who also take part in the project.
Supported by the Japanese Government, CJD-P launched in 2014 as an international project. The project enables Japanese craftspeople and manufacturers to meet up with these international advisors and designers to spend time together sharing ideas under the concept, “Tradition is Continuing Innovation.” Our continued efforts have spawned creative ideas and works which led to opportunities to show at international exhibitions such as Paris Maison Et Objet in January, 2016, and Frankfurt Ambiente in February, 2016. At these shows, we presented never before seen functional, yet elegant, innovative products. Please take a look at the artful skill and creativity of the CJD-P Team.
TCI Laboratory has run the Contemporary Japanese Design Exhibition, a joint exhibition project, in Europe and Asia since 2012. With the experience and networks developed over this period, we now manage the Contemporary Japanese Design Project with a consignment contract for businesses throughout Japan who are seeking to expand overseas.
