Together with Mr. Nakao, the director and founder of “Katarahi”, we focused on new product development to spread the appeal of traditional tenugui washcloths.
Chusen, or pour-dyeing, is a type of stencil dyeing technique. This unique method allows dyeing on both sides of the fabric, so it gives a beautiful visual texture like stained glass penetrated by sunshine. We developed the Katarahi brand of design lighting to showcase this alluring visual characteristic of chusen dying.
